Background

Hall was born in Chatham, Virginia and graduated from Chatham High School in 1978, and Summa Cum Laude from James Madison University with a BA in English in 1982. Shortly after graduating from James Madison, Hall became a TV writer and producer in Los Angeles, California and worked on shows such as Northern Exposure, Chicago Hope, I'll Fly Away, Anything But Love, and Moonlighting before creating, producing, and writing Judging Amy and Joan of Arcadia.

Hall is also a founding member of the alternative country rock band The Enablers, with whom she has released two CDs. In 2005 she released a solo debut CD, Handsome. Her latest album, Bad Man, was released in 2013.
