Nick Hamm is a film director, television director and producer born in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The acclaimed director and producer's work extends to feature films, television and theater. He has directed and produced major TV shows for the BBC, ITV and Film 4. His work also includes major feature productions for Miramax, Lionsgate and Pathe.
Hamm began his career as resident director with the Royal Shakespeare Company and has directed major productions across Europe. In 1989, he moved into television/film, directing The Bottom Line, a documentary about the crisis of culture, featuring Arthur Miller and Dustin Hoffman. In UK television, he produced, with Greenroom Entertainment, the successful BBC Three sitcom series Off The Hook. He also directed Play on One for the BBC starring Catherine Zeta-Jones and Colin Firth and the highly acclaimed series Rik Mayall Presents for Granada, starring Helena Bonham Carter.
Hamm's first feature film, Talk of Angels made for Miramax, is an epic love story starring Vincent Perez and Polly Walker. He then went on to direct the romantic comedy Martha Meet Frank, Daniel and Laurence written by Peter Morgan and made for Film Four/ Miramax starring Joseph Fiennes. His drama The Harmfulness of Tobacco, starring Edward Fox won the BAFTA Award in 1992. Hamm directed the highly original European cult movie The Hole in 2001 starring Thora Birch and Keira Knightley, in one of her first film roles. He made Godsend in 2004 starring Robert De Niro for Lionsgate Films.
He produced and directed Killing Bono, the rock 'n' roll comedy about two Irish brothers struggling to forge their path through the 1980s music scene in the shadow of their old school pals, U2 which was released November 2011 by Paramount Pictures.
Currently, Hamm runs MomentumTV, a US TV production company that has produced the critically acclaimed series, Rogue, Full Circle and Things You Shouldn't Say Past Midnight all for DirecTV's Audience Network. He also runs MomentumTV's UK counterpart, Greenroom Entertainment.
The first season of Rogue starred BAFTA-winning actress Thandie Newton as an undercover cop and was greenlit as DirecTV's first original series on March 12, 2012. Season 2 began airing in May 2014 and added Cole Hauser to the main cast. On August 12, 2014, it was renewed for seasons 3 and 4 to air in 2015 and 2016, respectively.
In addition to Rogue, Hamm also produces and directs the series, Full Circle and Things You Shouldn't Say Past Midnight both for DirecTV's Audience Network. The first season of Full Circle also known as Full Circle: Los Angeles, originally created by Neil LaBute and inspired by the German play La Ronde was critically acclaimed and starred Minka Kelly, Tom Felton, Kate Walsh, David Boreanaz and Julian McMahon. Things You Shouldn't Say Past Midnight was written by Peter Ackerman and based on his play of the same name. It starred Eddie Kaye Thomas, Alanna Ubach, Kurt Fuller, Keith David and Parker Young.
