Marvin Powell

Marvin Powell (born August 30, 1955) is a former American football player. He played college football at the University of Southern California (USC) and professionally as an offensive tackle in the National Football League for the New York Jets and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Powell was elected into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1994.
College career
Powell was All-Pacific-8 Conference three years and All-American two years. He graduated from USC in 1977 with a degree in political science and speech.
Professional career
Powell first round draft pick New York Jets. He was a five-time Pro Bowler between 1977 and 1983.
As a professional athlete in New York City, he wrote a newspaper column. He was also elected president of the players' union. He worked as an intern at the New York Stock Exchange and spent six off-seasons getting his law degree from New York Law School.
Family
Powell's son, Marvin Powell, III, played football at the University of Southern California between 1995 and 1998 and played professionally in the NFL for the New Orleans Saints in 1999.
