Biography

Rodrick Del Rodgers (born June 22, 1960, in Tacoma, Washington), is a former professional American football player who was selected by the Green Bay Packers in the 3rd round of the 1982 NFL Draft. A 5'11" running back-kickoff returner from the University of Utah, Rodgers was the first 1,000 yard rusher in Utah history.

He coached his oldest daughter's high school powderpuff team to four consecutive wins, being the only powderpuff team in Franklin High School history to remain undefeated champions. This accomplishment made him the most successful "coach" among Sacramento media personalities securing an affirmative-action hire with KCRA TV (NBC) in Sacramento, California- where the station was under fire for having no African-American On-Air talent since 1955.

Pro Football Career

From 1982 to 1985, Rodgers played for the Packers. On December 9, 1984, he made a 97-yard kick return for a touchdown against the Chicago Bears, which remains a Solder Field Record by an opponent that still stands today. After a one-year absence from the league, he came back and played two seasons for the San Francisco 49ers from 1987-1988 as a kickoff returner. He was awarded an on-roster Super Bowl ring with the 49ers in Super Bowl XXIII.

He has been on the Sports Team for KCRA TV (NBC) in Sacramento since 1997. In January 2016, Rodgers was arrested in Stockton, California for driving under the influence of alcohol.
